The Click-a-dee Clacks - A-Dee Series Children's Book

At Mandii Pope Digital, I had the joy of illustrating The Click-a-dee Clacks, one of the lively books in the A-Dee series for Long White Cloud Books. This delightful story introduces readers to a group of fun-loving furry creatures who live on the planet Dee, where they spend their days joyfully clicking and clacking through life.

With bright colours, playful characters, and engaging scenes, I worked to bring the energy of the The Click-a-dee Clacks to life on every page. The illustrations are designed to captivate young readers and invite them into a world of movement, sound, and imagination. Each page is filled with dynamic, interactive visuals that complement the story's rhythm, helping children feel part of the fun.

Incorporating QR codes for sing-along songs, the book also offers an interactive experience, making the story even more engaging for kids. My goal was to create a visual adventure that would inspire joy and spark creativity, with illustrations that reflect the whimsical, carefree nature of The Click-a-dee Clacks

The Click-a-dee Clacks is one of a set of 6 charming children's book written by musician and author Jayson Norris, with vibrant illustrations by Mandii Pope. This playful story follows the Click-a-dee Clacks lively little characters who love to make fun sounds with their tongues.—clicking and clacking away all day in their cozy shack. Along with their favorite nik-naks, snacks, and even a giant train, they enjoy their joyful noise-making adventures.

Children are invited to join in the fun as The Click-a-dee Clacks sing their catchy, tongue-twisting song. With a QR code included, readers can sing along to the music, creating an interactive and engaging experience. Available in paperback, e-book, and hardcover formats on Amazon, this delightful book brings a world of rhythm, rhyme, and fun to young readers everywhere.

The process:
Jayson sent me the story and together we brainstormed what the characters looked like, where they lived and what they looked like. We finished with a 56 page full colour illustrated children's book (which then became 78 and a colouring book), with QR codes and links to YouTube with a video that the reader can view the video, read the book and sing and dance along to the song.

The Illustrations:
I could draw them from scratch but why would I when technology exists to make my life easier. I created over 750 ai images to use as backgrounds and characters.
Version 1: I created 10 illustrations per page with the images to create a library of images which can potentially be used at a later date.
Version 2: We then chose the final pages in a 2nd version
Version 3: I remove the words so I can redraw every image in procreate as ai can often be hit and miss, however to create a base layer is perfect.
Version 4: I upload the final procreate images and re-add the text. The book is now finished and ready to make additional versions in various ratios for Youtube, Reels and Stories.

I then built a website, a brand and marketing content. We then sold the books on our website and on Amazon.

Creating the books in Canva, allows me to add a member to my team. By doing this Jayson and I could have a whatsapp, teams or fb call and simultaneously work on the pages at the same time.
